hi to all, the name's Jeremy Neil Moreton from Adamstown, Pitcairn Islands and recently on the move due to work and i'm new to this forum. Living in a South Pacific island, I've been keeping land hermit crabs as well as other crabs since i was a kid. My oldest hermit, Sebastian, which i believe is a C. brevimanus is well over a decade old now (12 or 13 years in my captive care). Claire, my second one, should be 9 or 10 by now)I'm currenty on mobile access so i'll be posting pics soon.Hope to enjoy reading more tips from you guys.Cheers! ^_^_____________________________________________________________________________________________*UPDATE*so here are my two hermits both are bigger than my clenched fists and feed on coconuts, bananas, cabbage leaves, wheat bread, cuttlebone and fishhope you enjoy the both of them.. oh and could you guys give me a better ID on the 2? i'm still kinda confused

Good day everyone!

You had it right your first post. The pink one is just a color variant. It must be a ressesive gene in them. It should be the same as your other one.

Are you talking about in my picture? That's a different species. That is a Coenobita perlatus also known as a strawberry hermit crab. There are eight different species of hermit crabs in the trade. C. clypeatus [Purple pincher]C. compressus [Ecuadorian]C. rugosus [Ruggie]C. violascens [Viola]C. brevimanus [Indo]C. variablilis [Aussie]C. perlatus [Strawberry]C. purpureus [Blueberry]
