HCA: Hermit Crab Association

I've found some lists of foods I can give to my son's new hermit crabs (store I bought them from said I could just feed them the hermit crab food). I was wondering if there was a list out there of foods not to feed them.One item I'm especially curious about is spider plants. I'd like to put one in the tank. It was on one of the lists I found (another site) as safe. I'd like to check here please. Anyone know for sure it won't hurt the newest family members?
