Hi all, I have not posted for a while, but I though it was time for an update. I had a neighbors kids (8 & 10) decide they needed hermits, and I gave them this site to do some research. Not sure if they did, but a week later, they had two crabs. When I saw the tank, and the 8 year old asked my opinion, I had them come home with me and pick up printouts from this site, a heater, 2nd dish, shells, and sea salt. Also highly recommended a moss pit. These poor crabs had 2 inches of EE, pellet food, and one tiny water dish. They now have a moss pit that they can at least bury themselves in, but I told the mom I was not sure how long they would live. (I tried at least). Yesterday, they called me asking if I wanted two more PP's. Of course I said yes, since my two E's both succumbed to collapsed tunnels. They brought a large KK with 1/2 inch of pink sand, half log and one shell. They did not know how long the original owner had them, but they kept one and brought me the other two. After a quick mite check, I put them in the tank and turned off the lights. Since then, the larger (Burg) has changed shells twice and seems to have become instant friends with Lavendar, and the other in the Babalon has buried itself. I expect if I see that one again alive, it won't be for about a month. I am just hoping that these two will enjoy my hands off, more natural happy home.

So, I get a call yesterday from the mom of these kids, asking if I wanted the two crabs they had left. The kids had decided they were done with them. I now have 8 crabs split between a 20 and 15 gallon. Maybe I will get my kid a little interested now. At least they came with everything except the tank. Hubby is giving me looks though -- oh well
