I was just wondering- if there was a surface molter in the wild, could it get suntanned/burnt?

No hermitcrabs can not get sun burnt or tan for that matter as they don't have skin as you or I they have a chitinous outer layer which hardens after they molt through the use of calcium and vitamin D.When a hermitcrab is soft just after having cast off the old exo the skin tissue is the same it's still chitinous it just lacks the calcium and vitamin D to make it hard and the only thing that can happen with a softie is contact injury or the more likely scenario in the wild it would be eaten unfortunately.
