Help
Long story short, I have had my heat on at 65 degrees for about two months now. Not warm enough for the crabs, I know. I used a light but instantly lost all humidity. I am now set up with the most awesome aquarium thanks to a kit from the hermit crab patch with lighting for heat and a cover that allows humidity to stay in, as well as some awesome Florida sand and have built the substrate up six inches from the previous two or so.I found two of my crabs dead and one alive when changing the tank. I want to get more so my guy isn't alone but I'm worried he may be sick and/or weak from the same conditions that killed the other two and don't want to introduce new crabs that may kill him.Should I wait before getting more crabs? If so, how long? Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!!!!

Sorry no one replied until now. I would wait for at least a couple of weeks to observe his behavior and see if it is adjusting nicely. Crabs can also go into sterility shock from which means that there is nothing from the original tank and everything in the new tank is new. They're like fish and need to have some good bacteria already in the tank. Also going from bad conditions to really good conditions can sometimes shock them. Usually start gradually getting it warmer and more humid, however some people don't have a problem going from one to the other.

@RyansHermies, The staff generally skims through threads and posts and threads with a header like Help/Help Me or the like tend to get passed over as explained here in the Choose your subject wisely section.I agree with jenok, I would just leave the poor crab be for the next three weeks or so, don't add any new tank mates during this time and just let the crab try to recover on its own.
