HCA: Hermit Crab Association

My crab just molted, he came out of the ground but his shell has got a bad chip and a crack! could some body give me some advice so I can coax him into a new shell!

Find a bunch of appropriately sized shells, preferably one just like he is in currently too. Make sure they are clean, warm might even be helpful, put a bit of treated aquaium salt water in each shell, put them all together and put him by the pile. Hopefully that will encourage him to change but it is possible he won't and you'll just have to give him time to decide for himself.
