Crabitat pictures
I've seen a few posts of peoples' crabitats lately, and I glanced through some archived posts and saw some incredible pictures of tank remodels and such. It got me thinking that it may be kinda cool to have a thread dedicated to pictures of everyone's setups. I know I'm always looking for ideas to build off of and thought if there was one place full of tons of ideas it'd make it easier to brainstorm and build better and more creative homes for our crabbies. If anyone knows of an existing thread or link to something similar that would be awesome, too.
But pretty please post pics of your tanks if you've got 'em!

Our first "final" setup in the old 10 gallon-- I was SUPER proud of it (and kinda still am lol).
Our original setup in the bigger tank (and the Boomer dog inspecting our work-- she said it needs lots more climbing bits and foliage haha).
And pics from a few different setups in the bigger tank.

Re-remodeled Captain Jack's 10gal yesterday. It was in need of more sub, some climbing for him! Added a second level with she'll shop up top. Still working to improve my heating, but finally got the humidity to where it needed to be!

I don't know what the light is, it was given to me from my friend who used it before me, I really like it though, it was ment for a 10 gallon but works just fine on the 20, thank you juniperblossom, I really hated the look of normal plastic containers so I went crazy and had fun decorating them

One of my crabs go's crazy over treats for some reason, if I give her some in her food bowl she gets excited and destroys the tank by running around and climbingGiner13 wrote:What do you find makes ya'lls crabbies more active??

Examples of treats? I just recently ordered from Hermie's Kitchen & can't WAIT to get my guy's foods in!!Candie wrote:One of my crabs go's crazy over treats for some reason, if I give her some in her food bowl she gets excited and destroys the tank by running around and climbingGiner13 wrote:What do you find makes ya'lls crabbies more active??

One of her all time favorites is sweet claws popcorn from the hermit crab patch, she also loves pink Himalayan rock salt, and worm castings always gets her excited, I don't know why, maybe she has energy from the treats or gets excited but she go's crazy, making soo much noise and wrecking everything in her path hahaGiner13 wrote:Examples of treats? Yay! Those are awesome! Giner I love the swirly shell in the corner-- I've set aside so many pretty shells to use as decoration and haven't figured out a way to do it yet. Candie your upgrade looks great! And I love the water dishes as well! I may have to steal the idea-- we use aquarium rocks in our dishes but they're just piled in there loose and when we rinse them it's a challenge to keep them out of the drain/dispose-all, haha.
Is that cork wood/bark in the back of your 56 gal? Where'd you get it and how did you attach it, if so?
Where did you find the giant cholla wood? We have small pieces and there's not really a way to utilize them, haha.
What is this giant piece of wood with all the hollow bits?! Also what's the thing in the bottom left corner?
What lights are you using in your 56gal? It looks like just the right amount of light to be able to see the crabbies when they're out and also give them plenty of shade and such to make them feel more confident about venturing out. We have a fluorescent aquarium light that sits on top of the tank and it seems pretty much impossible to make any shady areas while having it on.
Haha thank you and sorry for all the questions! It might've been easier to ask you to give a step by step/item by item description of the entire thing instead, haha.
@maranda I love all the climbables and wood bits and I have a million questions! (or maybe just a few but so many things seemed to jump out at me at once haha).marandashermies wrote:very nice set ups everyone! Love all the greenery- I am sure your crabs are absolutely loving their new set ups!
