Top Fin Ocean Salt?

Post by Adastra1018 » Sun May 08, 2016 8:25 am

My Petsmart that I work at as a 5 gallon bucket of Top Fin Ocean Salt on clearance for 20 bucks, plus my discount. I prefer Instant Ocean but I didn't want to pass this deal up without looking into it. I've read that the two brands are owned by the same company but that doesn't necessarily mean much. I just want to know if anyone's used it and if it's good enough. I know Top Fin isn't the best quality so I rarely recommend any of their products. I'm mainly worried about if the mineral content is sufficient.

If it's for salt water tanks, it's probably fine. If you're worried about the mineral content, compare it side by side with an IO ingredient list.

That's a steal of a deal.

There is an IO bucket also marked down but it's reef salt so I passed over it. Though i just read on here somewhere thats its safe. Is the added calcium the only difference? Salt is the one thing I don't want to skimp on. The top fin didn't have any info listed on the bucket pertaining to the breakdown of minerals. Or any useful info all all for that matter. Id rather stick with IO if I can use the reef salt.
