Is All Living Things brand moss okay to use? I've used it since I got my little hermies but I'm starting to notice that no matter how many times I spray it to moisten it up, it never seems to look any older. On top of that, it is starting to turn the suction cups of the shower caddy green... Do they use dyes in this? How can this stuff be made for pets by a company called All Living Things if it is harmful? (Assuming that it actually is harmful anyway..)
Please advise! lol

Re: All living things moss
It is dyed, and I think a big part of the problem is that it's made for reptiles, which are not going to try and eat it. It should be a harmless vegetable dye, but it probably wasn't tested on hermits. I know a lot of crabbers stay away from it because of that.

Well none of my pals have died for the past 5ish months I've been using it lol. But I think I will switch. Any suggestions for decent moss?wodesorel wrote:It is dyed, and I think a big part of the problem is that it's made for reptiles, which are not going to try and eat it. Re: All living things moss
Hello,
I have purchased live moss from NEHERP. It grows quick and it is fairly inexpensive.
Good luck

I use ZooMed Terrarium moss. I haven't read anything about it being bad for the crabs-- and they seem to enjoy picking at t and burying into it. I got it at Petsmart if you're interested.
And if anyone knows if this isn't a good brand let me know please.

I might have to try some of that out! My little buddies didn't mind the moss at first and used to bury themselves in it. Later on I got more for them to hide in and climb on and I don't think I've seen one of them in it since. That makes me think there's something wrong with it haha. That and it never seems to look any different...Tala wrote:I use ZooMed Terrarium moss.
