To be honest I am guessing they are mad because they only make sound during the day while I around (they do not like me up in their business) when they all want if food from the same source or if one of my big guys comes up from a molt and is acting grumpy (talk about a run-on sentence.) I bet youtube has some kind of crabby translation video. Off to the Google box!

Screaming is definitely a sign of distress, and small, short chirps can go either way. I assume they are happy chirps when they dint know im there. Crabby us on point though, when im messing with the tank, they are definitely not happy about it

Jaromeo has anger management issues. I am like "dude I am just trying to give you food." And he is like "hisssssssss."

Yay! I finally caught my first glimpse of Capt. Jack exploring his second level. Hoping he decides to shop for a new shell soon...I may order a few more in the next weekImageImage

It's like, all of a sudden that they realize,"Hey! This wasn't here before! I can climb this!" Lol

What I wanted to ask tho, where do you order shells?

@Ginger13 what a great name for a crab! It is a rewarding feeling when they USE something you made.

As a side note I had no luck with a hermit crab sound guide on youtube. It has never failed me before.

You can order them on ebay, etsy, and amazon. You can also buy shells from craft stores, and PETsMART sells unpainted shells (I can never find small turbos there though.....)

I have had really good luck buying bulk bags of shells at Michaels. I throw whatever will not work on my gravel driveway. We have the prettiest drive on the block

@CrabbyCakes thanks! Sparrow is probably my favorite movie character (not to mention Johnny Depp is easy on the eyes)! And it certainly was great to finally find him exploring further.
Are the bulk shells at Michaels just a mix? Are there turbos in there?

You can find Turbos but it is luck of the draw. You can buy them in mesh bags kind of like the bags you buy oranges in.

whenever I mess with their tank or feed them, all they ever do is either hide in their shell or kick it in full speed reverse lol. I think it's so funny when they high-tail it outta there cause they'll usually "run" backwards until they hit something and then turn to book it for the hermit hut. By the way, the hermit hut is very accurately displayed with a sign that reads "I'm crabby" hahaha
