Water Bubblers?

Post by JulesRolyCrab » Thu Jun 16, 2016 11:21 pm

Okay, sorry if this isn't the correct category, I thought it was water, but...

I was wondering about the noise level of bubblers? Are they really loud, because the tank in question is located in a bedroom. Thanks! :)

I think it depends on which ones you get. They have different kinds and I believe the air pump is what makes the most noise but there also you can get one that's quiet. Just really depends on the brand. There are a few out there.

I have the smallest size tetra whisper pump and the only time I hear it is when the cats knock it off the table.

Okay, maybe I'll get that brand then. So the sound if the bubbles would still be there, but the pump itself shouldn't be terribly loud? ( Btw do you know if the smallest size is 10 UL?) Thanks! <3

The pump itself is quiet: it vibrates a bit so be sure that you don't have it right up against the tank or it will "knock." The only time I hear the bubblers at all is when I have the glass lid open but it's a light "frothy" sound.

I don't hear the bubbles unless I open the lid.

Oh sorry and it is for a 10 gallon tank, which I believe is the smallest size. I ordered it from Amazon and with Prime it was less than $10 at the time with free shipping.

I have the same one! Definitely fairly quiet which is a huge thing for me. Also, because my tank is on a plastic fold out table, anything vibrating on it is just too loud, so I put a couple of wash cloths under it and since then, no issues:)

Awesome, thanks for the great responses! I'll be looking in to these dofferent pumps, and maybe a new lid as my current one is screen one, the sound will probably leak through.

I would try it out first before adding the new lid. I have bubblers in both of my pools and even with the lid off the sound of it is pretty soft. I connected mine to an air valve control so I can increase or decrease the amount of bubbles. Hope that helps!
