Yellow Fuzz?
Hey everyone. A while back I purchased some hermies for my girlfriend. The first one was in healthy condition and was the only one I bought from this particular store. The next two I purchased at the beach, about 8 hours away. They both died, but that's not the point of this post. One of the two beach hermies had a strange yellow fuzz like substance "attached" to the inside of both his claws, growing out of the space between the plates on his claws. The hermit crab from the original local store did not have this, but has since gotten it after short exposure to the hermie I bought that already had the fur. Has anyone heard of this? Is it lethal or harmful to them? I can't find anything anywhere else. The hermie appears to be happy and healthy, and he loves to explore, play, and is super friendly. Thanks!
Re: Yellow Fuzz?
could you post a pic? I have never seen anything like that on land hermit crabs, but my friend had sea hermits and they get a yellow patch of fuzz on them.

That's the best I could get for his little claw, and here's his big claw:

Any thoughts, anyone?

That's their leg hair. Those little tufts help hold droplets of water for them to drink. They're perfectly normal. All of my crabs have beautifully hairy legs.
