I don't think they'll ever be pets. There are more than 500 species of hermit crabs!!

I truly pray this species never is unfortunate enough to be scooped up by the pet trade. Those beautiful creatures belong on the beaches and in the trees! There's plenty of other crabs that have already been snatched from their homes, these guys don't deserve that fate. Nobody does.

They're already being sold in the pet trade. They've just been mislabeled as C.purpureus

I know of a place selling them for over 60$ right now. Also selling C.Lilas under the name of C.purpureus from borneo
