http://www.petsmart.com/food-care/water ... m%3Dsearch
getting this i've been buying 1 gallons of poland spring, for my fresh and salt water and its getting expensive. I'm looking to use prime as i hear its a good one to use before this i was using the zoo med dechlorinator. Anywjay how many drops per bottle do i need to make a gallon water jug of tap water safe?

Re: mixing prime for one gallon?
It should give you some sort of direction on the bottle. My Aqueon dechlorinator tells me "5mL per 10 gallons of water." Since I was using 1 gallon jugs I divided both numbers by 10 to get: for every 1 gallon of water, use .5mL. 1 mL is equal to 1cc so I went to CVS and asked for two syringes without needles (free btw). I filled the syringe halfway towards the 1cc mark. Since that small amount is not really hard to measure, I've just been doing about five to ten drops. Too much won't hurt the water or your crabs.
However, Seachem Prime is 5x more concentrated than Aqueon so you would actually use 5x less than I do; technically .1mL works for you. If I were you, I would still use at least five or ten drops just to make sure since too much won't hurt. <--- Especially since you will be using tap water.
This stuff should last you a long time.

If you don't add an insane amount, I don't believe anything bad can happen. Use your intuition and only add what you think is necessary.

Is there any good dechlorinators that are designed to mix 1 gallon straight away with directions ?

Mm, maybe but probably not. Dechlorinators are designed for fish, which will usually live in big tanks that exceed 1 gallon.
But basically, that's what this is - you just have to do some math. Also, don't use the hermit crab conditioner they have displayed. It's very bad for crabs. The Prime that you're buying is the best you can do

Re: mixing prime for one gallon?
Yes im aware, i got that stuff when i first got the crabs but after a day i switched to using only poland spring gallons of water
and of cource instant ocean (i never used the salt version only the dechlorinator which i couldnt find was unsafe for them
just the salt one) but anyway yeah i don't plan on using zoo med stuff.
I basically just need to know how i would mix the prime becuase i will be making gallon jugs at a time/ (ill try to do the math but
ill warn you math is not my strong point.)

5 to 10 drops will more than likely be okay for that. Drop them in and shake it up. The effects are instantaneous - you don't have to wait.

thanks should i go more for the 10 drops or 5. i live in the city and our water supply is def not the best
as most city water isn't the best chemical wise so i guess ill shoot for the 10.

If I were you, I would find one of those syringes I mentioned at CVS. Then measure out a half cc. That way you'll have a first-hand experience with the amount I'm talking about. With the Prime you won't technically need that much, but that extra small amount shouldn't hurt.

Re: mixing prime for one gallon?
ill look into it, i was hoping doing this would be as easy as making salt water aka use a half measuring cup, fill with salt take a funnel put in
the gallon and shake it up. I'm pretty bad when it comes to measuring and math, so i want to find a system that works for me, with out
messing anything up, or doing any harm. just want to get this all figured out before i purchase it.

When you get the bottle, send a message to me or reply to this thread and I'll help you out. Sound good?

Re: mixing prime for one gallon?
Prime is 2-5 drops per gallon depending on how heavily treated your tap water is. I would use no more than 5.

well this is my city http://newbrunswicktoday.com/article/br ... -state-depsoilentgringa wrote:Prime is 2-5 drops per gallon depending on how heavily treated your tap water is. I would use no more than 5.
we had a major water cover up thing happen here which is why i use poland spring and was even dechlorinating that.
because i live in such a ghetto cesspool of a city, im honestly scared that this stuff won't take out enough of 'whatever'
is in the water and if i asked the city whats in it i'm sure they would lie to me anyway. If i was to do this i would want to use
the MAX i could possible use thats safe to kill any evils that may lie in new brunswick city water.
