Hello all, I'm a long time lurker here ,3 yrs ,you know the story we are down the shore ,my son wants a couple of hermit crabs to bring home,we lost a few saved a few,I just upgraded to a 55 gallon tank,I got 5 crabs Morpheus ,Neo ,Switch ,Tank ,and Toretto.
Man that tank holds a lot of coco fiber lol I probably need more .
This site is awesome it's helped me out so much I learned a lot about these little guys.
Thank you all
Guess I'm a hermit crab freak !!
Hope I can upload some pics soon

good start! Nice looking crabs too! I would add in a few more inches of play sand and eco - yes it does take a lot! I thought my 55g was bad too, then I did the 125g and barley survived!

You may also want to check out the dollar store for a few fake plants. They love crawling all over them. Or the pet store has vines with suction cups that you can place on the glass, crabs LOVE climbing! Welcome!

I went to Michael's when I started my tank. I prefer plastic bc of humidity levels. I used the 40% off coupon each time I went. :). Great start! I also use oak tree branches from my yard bc they are pesticide free. My hc's love climbing on them, and love eating the leaves! :). Your crabs are cute! Also, please don't take offense, but it looks like your dishes are shallow bc there is a shell in it. (Maybe it's a hc eating) Just making sure that your dishes are deep enough for your crabs to submerge in :)
Truly blessed to have incredible creatures, wonderful friends and my amazing family in my life!! I'm very thankful & grateful for all of them! www.thehealthyhermit.com

Thanks for all the advice,I dumped more,cc sand mix in,I knew I wasn't done.
That was the first pic I took of the tank,l splurged on reptile plastic plants they love hanging out in it.
My crabs love the branches I put in there.one of my smaller ones love to change shells all the time,I think every other day, when he changes he washes up in the SW pool .

Tank 55gal
Substrate Eco-earth play sand 10"
Humidity 75-85
Heat 80
Freshwater and saltwater pools
Fed fruits and meats
Water melon
Chicken krill
Some greens
Grains
Cuttlebone pcs
They are eating the oak branches I have in there.
