UTH/lamp recs?

Post by bxbylxv » Sat Aug 20, 2016 1:27 am

I'm on a really tight budget with school starting up in less than 2 weeks, and my parents would rather not spend too much money on a UTH if they could help it. All I've been looking at is a 6x11 Ultratherm which would cost $25. I know I shouldn't be cheap with stuff like this, but is there any other UTH that you guys recommend? Are heat lamps cheaper? I can deal with low humidity, so I guess I'm not totally against lamps.

tldr; We'll buy a $25 Ultratherm if we have to, but are there other any other less expensive alternatives? Thank you! :)

They are worth the money. I've had all of my Ultratherms for over two years and they are still going strong.

A lot of the US crabbers swear by them... Hearing their reviews, makes me want to get one too! But yes, if you wanted you could buy another brand thats cheaper, but honestly I don't think it could compare... :) Parroting here, but many often quote how good the ultratherms are are keeping the tank warm and if needed, they can be insulated without worry. Plus many often talk about their long run time, which soilentgringa has touched on.
