just make sure (hard to tell if its on the wall or on the gauge
to make sure you dont mist the gauge. if you need to spray
around it cover it with a bag or something because it will ruin
if you get water on it.
Crap!! I think it got a little wet, my daughter was trying to spray it, but it was only wet a very little

yeah try not to do that. maybe explain to her (not sure how old your kid is ) but try to explain
you can ruin it and it will make the crabs sick if it doesn't work because it wont be able to tell
if the air is wet enough and they wont be able to breathe. something like that but dont let her
spray it you def dont wanna ruin it or cause it to read improperly.
I hope it will be ok just this one time

im sure its ok. i would just try to avoid getting it wet as much as you can
because i know it will def ruin it, or cause problems with it being accurate.
also i would recommend calibrating it to see how it reads with the salt test.
the instructions on are the caresheet thingy on this forum.
but basically you fill a soda cap with table salt and wet it to sand consistency
but dont disolve the salt just make it damp like wet sand. place in a plastic container (or zip lock bag)
with the gauge and seal it up. wait 6 to 24 hours id wait the full 24 hours. and it should read 75 %
if its under or over if you have a calibrate button or way to do it on the guage you can do that and if not
you just add points or take away points so if it reads 73 % you just add 2 points. that kind of thing.

It is mixed in, I added it when I put the sand in last night and I spray the tank right now until I can cover the top with plexiglass and get the ultratherm. There are 3 shells per crab in there now. But, I need to get bigger shells for Biggie Smalls, he's pretty big

you can cover the mesh lid with surran wrap for now (cover almost all of it just leave a little bit open for air) until you get a glass lid.
i would do that as soon as you can as humidity is very important.
I'll do that now. So when should I have the red light on? Because I know I cannot have it on top of the Saran Wrap...ugh!! I wish I didn't buy the light...now I'm biting my nails until I get the ultratherm. Who should I ask to find out what size I need to order?

Measure the back of your tank above the substrate, and order the Ultratherm that closely matches those measurements without being larger than the area it needs to go.

If your humidity is 92% there is no need to spray your tank at all.

I think bean farm may offer suggestions on their site according to the chart on the reddit hermit crabs sub google docs it says 6 x 23 would be the size that would fit yours which is also the exact size i use for my 20 gallon long hope that helps btw you dimensions should be 24 x 12 x 12 so it should fit nicely
