I've been trying to think of ways to use the unusable shells and this is what I came up with.
It will be interesting to see what they think of it when they wake up in a couple hours

That's really cool! I've been trying to think of some things I could do with the shells my 4 hermies came in. Unfortunately 2 of them are painted so I don't think it will be anything inside of the crabitat. Maybe frame them as trophies for providing better suited shells to new friends hahaha

Love it! Tres jazzy!! What did you use to adhere the shells to the plastic container?

Cute idea!! Very beachy

It's a hermie hut, another thing to climb on, and possibly a little snack shack all in one!!

That's exactly what I was thinking when I made it lol.
I just used hot glue to attach the shells. I know it might not last but I wanted to see if it would even work or if they use it. Of course I put it in the tank where everyone sleeps in the moss pit every day so I might put it in the more active tank.
Apple was checking it out this morning though until he saw me looking and hid behind it

If the hot glue doesn't work, try out the Instant Ocean Epoxy Stick! I've been meaning to try that out myself but it says it is for aquariums and won't harm fish so I can't see it being any more harmful to a crab than it would be to a fish.

I'm buying one this coming payday to try out on some small rocks and shells that I want to attach to a food container as a neat little DIY pool that I saw on here a few months ago

I just wish I wasn't so good at procrastinating sometimes so I could have had this done already to tell you how the Epoxy Stick worked lol

Ha! I'm the same way

I'm thinking of making our pools bigger. It took a lot of motivation for me to do our first pools...thinking it's going to take a bucket load of motivation to make bigger ones!

I'm sorry if this is irrelevant but is the stick safe? I had one once and someone told me that it could harm my crabs because it's painted. And when I tried to clean it all of the paint came off...

It is not wood and is made of resin and so far I haven't noticed any chips but I will be sure to check it regularly.

Mango has decided that the hut is his own personal dressing room. Twice now he has drug a shell into the hut and tried it on lol. This is the shell he's settled on for now.
