Hermit crab poop, is this normal?

Post by Menders » Sat Sep 10, 2016 11:53 pm

I was watching my largest hermot crab and noticed that he was standing over something that looked like a piece of white plastic. It was not! It is poop. He pooped two poops that are as white as snow. I thought they were worms at first but they are definitely poop. Is this color normal or is it a sign of something bad?

Hermie poop can come in all the colors of the rainbow. It just depends on what they ate last.
Currently the caretaker for:
Six hermies in 37G bow front, and two more in a ten-gallon tank.

I build websites, and blog about ebooks.

My Dora, who would eat only crushed oyster shells and apples if it were up to her often poops greyish white. I just quit filling the calcium dishes every day.

Sometimes they keep it in their shells and empty it out at random times. Especially in the water or on the food dish. Mine do it on top of the things they climb on.

Haha - charming.

I can't believe I've fallen in love with an animal that hoards it's own poop.
