I am intrigued now! Their shop is currently closed, but I will be definetly reading more about it or sending the owner an email :)

I'm sure its perfectly safe to mix it together. I originally bought the mix your own kit from them when I first started and used playsand. It's all the same stuff really, they just make it easier for newbies by taking the "work" out of it.

The last time we had a hurricane in 04 they had to put sand on our beaches because so much had washed away. There was a lot of erosion this time as well, and cars are still not allowed on the beach. I'm closer to the beach than Eustis. When I started my tank I did use beach sand mixed with eco earth. Since then, I have upgraded my tank twice and have used play sand because the past few times I went to the beach there were cigarettes and other debris in the sand. Some people just don't care. I didn't want to take sand from the dunes, so I settled for quickcrete play sand from lowe's.

Oh no! Yes. Unfortunately many people nowadays just don't care :(

I think I'll be going to Ace or Lowe's to get some play sand then! I know I have to mix it with EE and have a ratio of 5:1:1 (the other 1 being an add-on such as oyster shells) Do I have to wash the sand though? If so, how?

I moved them to the 29 gallon tank complete with about 6-7 inches of substrate yesterday. When I woke up this morning, I saw Nina (the E) eating applesauce from last night's dinner. Afterwards, she also ate some boiled egg with its crushed shell.

About an hour or two ago, I found her upside down by the food shell. She was moving her legs quite a bit (and still is - especially her 4th or 5th pair). I isolated her using the soda bottle method. Is she surface molting? Temp and Humidity are now at 80/85.

She is now completely out of her shell... Is there anything I can / should do?

You should probably fill out an emergency template in the emergency section. Also, try to reshell the crab. Do you know how?

If her entire body is out of the shell, she needs to be reshelled, very carefully. Perhaps she is getting ready to surface molt. It's hard to say.

Thanks everyone! I followed the instructions from the Hermit Crab Owner group of FB. They said to isolate her in a Tupperware with water and 3 shells. If she doesn't move into one, I might need to help her. How long should I wait?

What I don't like about the Tupperware is you cannot balance humidity & temp~ do you have a separate iso tank? If not, you can do a 2 liter bottle, cut bottom off, give her honey, egg shells, water, shells, cover her with the bottle, push to the bottom of your tank, and this way you can isolate her with her getting some air exchange in the tank too. Good luck! Leave her alone, and pray for best!

You put the tupperware in the main tank.
