i end up redecorating every 6 months or so because i can see my grabs growing more sluggish, but i replace at least one item a month usually. and are those aussies? that one is so small

Yeah, they do have similar traits and breeding patterns. Many believe they closely related compared to other crabs.

Yep, unless Australia has begun importing exotic species. Its pretty common here to offer them small, and around the size of a 5 cent coin - which is around a micro/teeny size. Rather cute, but they quickly grow to a small in a couple of moults anyway.
(Aussies are naturally a smaller species as well)

I have no exotics, only PPs, but I had to show the pic I managed to get of Pip while trying to sex him (the little bowl he is sitting in is 4" diameter) and the penny I added as a reference
