Mortar & pestle?

Post by kieagcarm » Sat Jan 07, 2017 12:05 am

This maybe should go under food, but since I'd be doing it myself I put it here...
I'm thinking of buying a mortar and pestle, I'm an avid gardener and grow almost every safe list flower on here. I never use any pesticides or flower food or anything harmful and I thought if I bought a set I could start making crab food, at least for myself, maybe one day selling some? I sell flower seeds online on listia and was thinking of selling on etsy. Maybe I could sell flower seeds and crab foods.

Any one ever use a mortar and pestle, does it work well?

I love my mortar and pestle- and I use it more than the coffee grinder. Very easy to clean.

I was looking at some on etsy then Amazon late last night and apparently fell asleep, and accidentally somehow ordered a stainless steel set!Image no clue how that happened but when I woke up I saw a transaction alert on my credit card and saw it is ready to ship thru Amazon. I cancelled the order because I'm not sure yet which kind is best.

Should I go with stainless steel, wood, ceramic, marble or some sort of stone?

Lol! That's kind of funny! Mine is a porcelain one from Target. It was $10

Edit- I don't know about the other kinds. It was the first one I ever bought, and I love it!

I personally like the stone ones the best, IMO the better at grinding things for me then the others. :)

I use a molcajete all the time. It's basically a granite or volcanic mortar and pestle used to grind things in Mexico and South America.

I use a marble one. It works alright in my opinion. But I'd something is really hard it probably would not work.
