Do the food mites just die off or something?

I've noticed in the last two days much less movement from the food mites, and I've done nothing to get rid of them other than change the food more often. I'm finally starting to feel better from the flu and I am wondering where the bugs went? Do they die off our are they just hiding? Athena and Yeti are still hiding in the back left corner together like they have been since I discovered the food mites and I haven't seen them eat in over a week.

Less food for the food mites means less food mites:) Yes, they will die off if there isn't anything for them to eat. I change out food every morning from the night before and will look around the tank for scraps and pick those up too.

The mite populations in my tanks seem to ebb and flow. Sometimes the entire tank is literally crawling with them and other times I hardly see any at all.

Once in a while there is a mass die off in the water pools.

Have the isopods seems to be helping, but I just had a major die off of those too. I've read the sudden die offs are normal for isos.

Glad to hear you are starting to feel better! Mine come and go too...I've never had them in my water pools that I've noticed anyway.
