crab molted and is suddenly missing leg

Post by Emerald Fox » Fri Feb 03, 2017 5:52 pm

So my crab molted a few days ago and all that, it was a surface molt. Before the molt he had all of his limbs but now when I watch him and stuff, he seems to be missing a leg. i have no idea how that happened or if its just hidden or what. He seems to be in a fairly tight shell but will not change out of it. When he closes up into it, his claw and legs stick out of it. Anyway, does anyone have an experience with this?

Just provide him with lots of calcium sources (e.g.: eggshells, cuttlebone, oyster shell, coral, sea urchin), protein sources (e.g.: grasshoppers, shrimp, krill, crickets, mealworms, chicken), as well as the other necessary food pyramid items every day of the week. Your crab will regrow the limb in the next molt or two if the calcium & protein are provided :) Good luck!
