river rocks

so I bought some packaged river rocks (sigh, yes I bought) anyway is there any reason they would not be safe?

oh and the same with some shells I bought ---- they don't seem to have any shiny stuff on them... just plain shells

Should be fine. I would just rinse the rocks and boil the shells in dechlorinated fresh water
