Hello, my crabs are getting a lot larger and I was wondering if the substrate is deep enough. My tank is fairly large, but it was made for reptiles and has a front opening door.
If I add more substrate, I'm worried I won't be able to access the tank as easily or it would end up spilling out. The substrate is around 4 1/2" - 5". My largest crab has a shell with an opening of a little less than 2" but he is still growing.
Do you guys have any tips? Should I invest in a new tank?
Is my crabitat still a good size for growing crabs?

Hello! Lots of crabbers use the type of tank that you have. Just have a piece of plexiglass cut for the front so that your substrate can be higher, and your doors can still open.
Substrate should be a minimum of 6" or 3 times the height of your largest crab (whichever is deeper).

A four foot long tank is recommended when they start reaching that size. They'll be very active and need space to move around.

Oops! I should have paid more attention to the size of your crabs! In the meantime- add more substrate and pesticide/fertilizer free oak tree or maple tree branches so they can climb too. Take advantage of that height that you have!
Lots of people check Craigslist, OfferUp, Letgo for tanks.

How many crabs do you have? And how big is the tank?
