10 gallon setup

So, I recently bought two 10 gallon tanks for $10 (Canadian) and I have the first one set up. The thing is, the first one has pure Eco earth substrate and is very dirty, so I decided to set up the other one. I got a bag of playsand from Home Depot and used almost the rest of my Eco earth. Here is what I have so far

I plan on adding some pools for them to fully submerge and stuff, since my space is very limited, what would you guys recommend I add
Ps: I have two pps and am gonna get another pp along with a 20 gallon soon!

Here is what I did with my 10 gallon. I've since upgraded to a 29 gallon. Can't wait to put in the modified hamster wheel. There was no space for it in the 10 gallon. But I did manage to fit a moss pit, repti-hammock, coco hut, climbing branches and coral, shell shop, and two water pools deep enough for them to submerge.

UPDATE:

Added water pools, a climbing rock and some other climbing things. I have a lot more things for them to climb in their current tank that will be moved to this one.

Is there anything you guys think I should change? Are the rocks okay for the water pools? Thanks.

Is that a 10 gallon? Looks good to me!

I wouldn't use those rocks in the water the crabs drink, but that's me. Other folks may do things differently or not have an issue. The rocks I found/bought that were like that had a coating on them to make them safe to use in fishtanks, but if you boiled them the coating would come off. Most rocks are porous without a coating, and I wasn't sure what would be leaching into my water if I put them in it. Saltwater in particular could react with minerals in rocks and create compounds in the water that might not be so good for the crabs. Also, I'm not sure the coating that came on the rocks could be used with or was impermeable to saltwater. So I decided to only use scallop shells and glass marbles in my water bowls - I could boil those and rub them clean easily, and I figured scallop shells would be pretty inert to saltwater, since that's their natural environment.

I used rocks like the ones in the bowls in your picture to weigh down the bottom dish of my nested water bowls. Here's a link to nested water bowls in case you're interested. http://www.hermitcrabassociation.com/ph ... bubbler+yo

Yes, it is a ten gallon. I have a bin of marbles in my closet, would that be okay as long as I boiled them? Also, a nested water bowl sounds like a cool idea! My only issue now is moving the crabs, they are buried right now and only come up at night, lol.

Personally, I'd buy some clear glass decorator marbles with no coatings on them and use those. They're pretty cheap.

Regular glass marbles are beautiful and often have lots of colors of glass. To color the glass, lead, cadmium, copper, and other metals and metal salts that may be toxic to crabs are used. If this colored glass was inside the clear glass portion of the marble completely, the marble should be all right to use, but even cats-eye marbles usually have one or two locations where the colored glass and the clear glass meet on the outside surface of the marble. I'd be a bit concerned about that area being exposed to saltwater. But I may be worrying about it too much. Since the metals and salts have chemically bonded with and are encased in the glass, only a minimal amount may be able to react with the saltwater. And if you completely change out your water every day or two, the crabs' exposure to metals that have leached into your water from the marbles should be minimal, if it occurs at all.

My three finally came up from molting and were all up at once. I jumped on that opportunity. Went to bed at midnight that night, but I had my 29 gallon set up in 3 hrs. I was three days from being ready to upgrade when all my crabs went down to molt. No consideration of my schedule, LOL. Took 1.5 months to see them all again. Crazy crabs!

Do you have a Hobby Lobby around you? They carry real cholla for cheap, and you can use 40% of coupons on it! Ebay is another place that you can pick up cholla.

Thanks for the ideas! I have been looking into getting some craft mesh for the crabs to get in and out of the pools, will probably get some tonight after baseball. As for the cholla wood, I do not have a hobby lobby near me, are there any other places to get it for cheap? They have it at petsmart and petculture but it is around 25$ a small piece.
