Is this decholrinator safe?

Post by AndyCrabby » Sat Jul 01, 2017 9:50 pm

I think I read somewhere that this decholrinator doesn't remove ammonia I was just wondering if it was safe for crab use?Image

The label should tell you if it removes ammonia or not. If it doesn't, you can look on the website or contact the company.

It says it "neutralizes chlorine, chloramines and heavy metals that are harmful to fish" but nothing about ammonia

So I searched a bit deeper on the interwebs and apparently it doesn't, at least not directly. Does this mean I need to dump out my current water and buy a new water conditioner?

Does your tap water use chlorine or chloramine?

I honestly don't know. It's NYC tap water if that makes it any easier

Between it not neutralizing ammonia, and It also saying it contains bioextract with natural biopolymers for healthy filter bacteria...I personally wouldn't use it, but that's me.

@GotButterflies Is there a conditioner that you recommend? This one is one my bf gave to me when he used to keep a betta fish, it was still good So I decided to use it but I will gladly change it if it's bad for my crabs

I agree with Daws- I use Prime I buy mine off of Amazon. You can purchase that at most pet stores as well.

YW!! Yes! It's one of the advatar pics in user control panel. I have 3 children and one on the way so it kinda matches lol... I haven't figured out how to add my own pics yet. There's a tutorial here somewhere (have it bookmarked) but I haven't had the time to sit down and change it. ;)

Edit: here's the tutorial if you're interested http://www.hermitcrabassociation.com/ph ... hp?t=87783
