Caterpillars in the tank???

Post by PastelGlo » Thu Jul 06, 2017 9:56 pm

This is the second time I've seen some sort of caterpillars in my tank. Is there any reason why? Are they harmful to my tank? Image

Hello I'm on my phone, and my eyes just aren't that great...but caterpillars come from butterflies or moths. Either you are putting something in their with the eggs, or you have moths in the crabitat. Leaves, seeds, etc are things that these would travel on.

They look like some sort of cutworm. Should be coming in on food.

Would you think they're from animal protein from the food? I used to feed them food that had animal protein but I stopped doing that months ago

No, these types of catterpillars only eat plants.

Just checking - you're still providing your hermits some sort of protein, right? Their natural diets are heavy in insects and seafood. Without some animal protein in their diets they start eating each other!
