So my Ultratherm heating pad and thermostat arrived today from Reptile Basics.
I got the Vivarium Electronics VE-100 thermostat. Where do you put the probe? Do you just tape it on the inside glass of the tank? How deep to you put it? Just above the substrate? Or in between the substrate and the tank lid?
Also I guess black side of the ultratherm faces the glass on the outside of the tank? One pic on the "Dumb Ultratherm questions" thread has the black side facing the glass of the tank and one poster's pic has the copper striped side facing the glass side of the tank. It's confusing.
Help please!

The heater, you'll want the flat side of the cord (white part) against the glass.
The thermometer, try to aim for middle of tat a couple of inches above the substrate. I had to tape the black cord to the top of my lid for it to work. I'll add pics in a minute.
Edit to add the following:
I had to drill a whole in plastic backing of my glass lid so the lid would lay flat. I used painters tape (blue) to hold it in place if I needed to completely remove my lid.... All of this isn't really necessary!
Same pic except packing tape is circled in red so you can see it:
