Sand from beach?

I am looking to give my hermit crabs a larger space. Can I use sand from a Chesapeake Bayside beach in Md? Or would it make a difference or be better to get sand from an ocean side beach like rehoboth beach?

Can i use it as is or just rinse it and dry it out in the sun before use?

I have, and honestly they loved it... But the beaches in Aus and US are vastly different from eachother, and a few pointed out that many beaches in the US are heavily polluted - through agriculture, urban or offshore drilling - or use ground up glass, and wouldn't reccomend in adding sand to the tanks.

IDK about that beach in particular, I wouldnt due to the density of the US population, most seem to live in the eastern areas... Not to mention, it a few clicks from a lot of heavily populated areas... I wouldn't risk it.

I personally use beach sand in my crabitats- but I have mixed it ee and quickrete all purpose sand. I do like to put it on the top of my substrate too

I have used sand from ocean city, md. However, I made sure to go through it and bake it before putting it in the tank! Good Luck!
