I just looked at this picture again. It's a Ultratherm right? I think it's on backwards. You want the most flat part against the tank, which for mine it meant copper stripes facing away from the tank. It wasn't obvious until we flipped it over and tried both sides.jdauby09 wrote:Here is a pic of tank

Also, upper 70s like 77-79 isn't bad, especially for PPs. So please don't stress while to try to insulate it. No need to stress oe go out and buy extra stuff until you can afford it.jdauby09 wrote:Ok so I put 1 layer of that aluminum foil bubble wrap on and it had raised to upper 70s but not where I am wanting would the next step be cardboard or go around sides

Re: Heat issue!
For increased heat input, try insulating the UTH with foam board from the hardware store or styrofoam (from old coolers/packing materials or from the hardware store). Cover either in foil. You can also try Reflectix if you haven't already as an additional layer right next to the tank. The mylar could reflect some of the radiant heat back into the tank, but the foil wrapped foam board/styrofoam will radically slow the thermal/conductive heat losses. My money is on the foil wrapped styrofoam or foam board insulation panels if you want to throw the book at it.
4PPs and tons of FUN in a 29 gallon!

Re: Heat issue!
Agree with the fact that the ultratherm being on backwards. Copper should face outside
