UTH

Post by Kaleighshermies » Wed Jul 26, 2017 8:16 pm

I am purchasing a UTH for my 40 gal tank. Can anyone recommend what size to get? And reptilebasics.com is the best website to get them off of right?

Is it a 40 gal or a 40 breeder? Better yet what's the measurements?

I'm at work so I don't have the measurements on me. When I did measure it and entered it into the calculator it actually came out to be a little over 40 gallons so I rounded it down to 40. When I went to petco I saw the 40 gal breeder and mine is wider in width then the breeder, if that helps at all.

I'd go with the total surface area along the back all, above the substrate line... :)
Not exactly the most helpful comment, but it really depends on the amount of substrate and if in fact it is a 40g breeder...

As long as it fits on your back wall. You probably know this already, but they don't bend. I got a 23" long UTH once and put it on a 10 gallon tank (20" long). I had 3" poking out into space on one end. Didn't bother me too much, but it wasn't very decorative.
4PPs and tons of FUN in a 29 gallon!

Yeah, I'll just have to measure the back side of the tank and get the largest one that will fit in that perimeter
