Lenny has been in captivity for 12 years.

It is almost impossible to determine a living crabs age, as size doesn't necessarily tell us how old they are.

I have 2 other crabs who are at least 10 years old. Image

I don't have a current picture but when I get a chance I will post one! Mine is my crab Dusty who I will have had for two years on August 11th. Out of my adoptions, my ecuadorian Elvis had been with her previous owners for two years when I received her.

My oldest have been with me from when I started in 2009. I have more from adoptions that have been in captivity for 14+ years.

This is amazing! I knew they lived a long time, I just wanted to ask 'cause GB is fostering my babies while I'm in college Mine have been with me all year, and they're a good size so I'm guessing they're around 7-10 years old already. It's so inspiring to hear of these crabs living so long after seeing all of them die in kid's tanks. What a difference proper care makes!!

Since 2010 for sure I have a few (violas and indos), but I sort of lost track of which PP's were which, so possible my original two from 2009 are still with me. So 7-8 years.

I have three that have been with me since 2008. One adoptee has been in captivity for around 16 years.

My OG Hermie has been with me 8 years, and the woman from whom he was rescued indicated he lived with her (in absolutely horrifying conditions) for 10 years or longer. So, 18+ years in captivity for my gentle giant.
