Were they under ground when you were cleaning/moving the tank? Could you describe the cleaning process?

Well one was but he wasnt molting he was just digging tunnels. First i put my 2 above crabs in a cleanimath bath which is declorinated and they walk around if was thier leg hight not submerged. Then i take out all decor and sit it on a paper towl just for a sec. Then i dumped all the old eco earth. Tuen put the decor in the tank andmstarted washing it no soap or anything harmfull. Last i made new eco earth and put it in tank. Then i put all the washed decor in the tank then i put the crabs in the tank. Then fed them graped and strawberrys

They were probably mad at you for tearing apart their home. For future convenience , unless you have a flood, bacterial buildup, or mites you don't need to "clean" the tank by replacing the substrate. Some crabbers never do that unless they move, while other suggest doing it once or twice a year.

I didn't mean to offend you! I just meant that handling and rearranging the tank can make crabs stressed and perhaps they were chirping back at you. Although, I've never heard of that happening. You did post in the emergency section and ask for help. I was only trying to help.

They definitely can get stressed out and chirp if there are hands that keep coming into their safe zone.

This can happen for sure, my shell shop fell and when I went to pick it back up I had to move it with my E in it. The E started chirping like a madman.C_fiesta wrote:I didn't mean to offend you! Re: Speaking/chirping but no fights or pain or sufferage
An E is just a shorter name for a subspecies of hermit crab called an ecuadorian. They can be more aggressive than the most common species found in pet stores, purple pinchers, but with proper care they are just fine.Undercrablife wrote:Wait E there was a video on Yt Saying that there was a hermit crab attacked by another crab named E
