If he's a jumbo, he needs at least a 75 gal tank. Jumbos take up a lot of space by themselves but need even more for molting (at least 12" deep substrate)

Please use the size chart to verify his size. I thought mine were smaller than they were until I placed them on the chart.Undercrablife wrote:Hes not much of jumbodaws409 wrote:If he's a jumbo, he needs at least a 75 gal tank. If he is a jumbo crab, he needs a huge tank with lots and lots of substrate. Please be considerate of your crab's needs.
But also, welcome! That's a fun name! Hermit crabs are so cool. I hope you enjoy him!

That's silly. You're not going to get kicked of for not having a big enough tank. But you do need to measure your crab. He might not actually be as big as you think! And there's more to consider, like how many crabs do you have total? If you have just him (and if he indeed is a large not a jumbo) he could do OK in a 20gal for the time being. Just don't get any more crabs! You need to know so you can start planning for the future, whether that's giving him a new home or saving up for a bigger tank. There's lots of used tanks of craigslist/letgo/facebook marketplace/etc.

Here's a link. Print out the size chart and size your crabs (that are above ground) up. http://www.hermitcrabassociation.com/ph ... 43#p852643
