I have a question for those with ultratherms

This is where you discuss the conditions of your crabitat -- temperature, humidity, substrate, decorating, etc.

I have a question for those with ultratherms

Post by Tom2433360 » Sat Aug 19, 2017 1:45 pm

So, I'm ordering a heater for my 29 gallon tank, and I went to the reptile basics website to look around for ultratherm heaters. However, one heater I wanted to get was too long and another was too short. I'm also planning on ordering reflectix insulation to go around the tank and on the back of the ultratherm. Should I get the longer one even though 2.5'' of the heater would be hanging off on both sides?Or, would I be ok with a heater that's 7'' too short but have a lot of reflectix insulation around the tank? The temperature in my house is usually 68-75° degrees depending on the season (I live in chicago). Thank you so much in advance! :)

You can also order an Ultratherm UTH from beanfarm.com
I would have to suggest not getting one that is longer than the length of the tank because I don't think they should be bent.. though someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

*Edited to add- Reptile Basics and bean farm had different sizes when I ordered mine last year.. I got a 6x23 for my 20g that fit perfectly . I had to order from reptile basics because bean farm didn't have that size. * Hope I could help a little

I have the 6x23 on my 29G from reptile basics... As someone else suggested, you never go larger than the tank!

You can go larger, however you must not bend the mat in any way or you may break the heating element inside. Just doesnt look the best to see uth popping out on the sides.
