Highly recommend the modified hamster wheels! I have a total of 6 between my four crabitats - they are all used!!
Truly blessed to have incredible creatures, wonderful friends and my amazing family in my life!! I'm very thankful & grateful for all of them! www.thehealthyhermit.com

Re: Large Tank Build from Scratch
The only update I have is that I found some awesome pieces of drift wood for the new tank. A few might be too big but we will see. I also want to try the heated PVC method.
Im going to be moving soon and then again in a year. (Long story don't ask) so I am going to try to have the cabinet I like picked out and modified for a tat. And by then hopefully the living situation will be settled and I can move the crabs in.

How long did it take them to discover it and use it? I put a piece of coconut in mine to entice and someone discovered the treat but made no use of the wheel.GotButterflies wrote:Highly recommend the modified hamster wheels! I have a total of 6 between my four crabitats - they are all used!!

Re: Custom Upgrade
Okay I was sifting through videos and forums for terrariums, vivariums and aquariums for some new inspiration. This guy built a huge aquarium and made the structure look super clean. Granted mine will have different dimensions and I talked to a guy who does bathrooms about doing the doors like a shower door.

It looks like is material list is:
Shop Grade Birch Plywood
Wood Glue
1.25" Self Taping Wood Screws
Pond Shield (2 part non toxic epoxy)
Isopropyl Alcohol
Fiberglass Cloth
Silicone (Grade 1 with no additives)
Correct me if I am wrong but all of these are hermit crab safe yes?
I am picking up a table saw tomorrow, and I already have great stuff so I will just need to add grout to the list. So all thats left before I start is to figure out where in my new place its going to go. Should I put it in the basement where there is only 1 door to get it in and out or upstairs where there is a huge sliding door? And im still thinking about how i am going to do the pools (foutains, filters, drip or air pump).
