Mounting?

Post by piratetoothgir » Tue Feb 20, 2018 6:14 pm

What's the best way to mount a plastic kritter keeper to a glass tank?
How do you guys do it?

I want to use the containers for moss and shells, so they have the stick up there pretty strongly.

Are the hermit crabs already in there? If so, you are not going to be able to be able to use any glues to mount it.

I use shower caddies that have built in suction cups. Short of getting creative with Command Strips I don't think glues will work. Nothing sticks to KK plastic.

Yes, they are in there. I want to use tapes or strips, not liquid glues.
These KK's are the mediums, so they are pretty big, I really want to adhere them, that was my plan.

I had success with command strips with a similar container.
My dad has tapes, called T-Rex tape, supposedly the strongest tape there is.

I personally like command strips that are like velcro, but that is me. The velcro strips are for hanging picture frames. I'm not sure if they would hold a critter keeper full of shells.

I'm trying to see if putting the two big containers with moss, and then a smaller shell box in between.
Can I use T-Rex tape?

I am not familiar with that brand. If it is anything like Gorilla tape I would say no, it puts out a heck of a chemical smell and when heated it gets that much worse. I've made myself sick by using it near a heater before.

I'll see if it smells, if it does, I'll just use large command strips or hooks to hang these container.

Wode, I opened up a roll of the tape today.
It has no smell at all. When I sniffed it, I just smelled something similar to smelling a substrate.

It’s got no powerful odor compatible to gorilla tape. Shouldn’t worry about it being harmful to anything. Extremely sticky tape, so it’ll hold up those moss pits great.

I won’t put it on the glass where the heater is just to prevent it using coming unstuck.
