Re: More insane colors
And for anyone that missed it, my blue guy from a few weeks ago. He has already started getting greyer.
The white one was a rescue from a few years back. I started going through my archives and pulling good pics and I always thought the color was nuts. It was otherwise fine and was not molting, and returned to a normal shade after its next molt a few months later.

Re: More insane colors
They just randomly come up that way, and the next molt go back to more normal. I've had everything from smalls to jumbos do it. These guys are all borderline jumbos though.

Cool! I have a guy down for a month now, maybe he’s morphing into a weird color form like that.wodesorel wrote:They just randomly come up that way, and the next molt go back to more normal. I've had everything from smalls to jumbos do it. These guys are all borderline jumbos though.
I have two crabs that are larges, with my largest being near jumbo.

So cool! I love these random things they do. Mysterious little buggers.
Re: More insane colors
Do you think the change could be due to increase in certain foods? Like in humans eating a lot of carrots (like A LOT) can cause a yellow discoloration of the skin?wodesorel wrote:They just randomly come up that way, and the next molt go back to more normal. Re: More insane colors
I doubt it. Up until a couple of years ago it would have meant starving themselves while waiting for something particular to come around as I was feeding individual food items on random rotation. Now it would be picking through a very varied mix for one or two things. The color itself is just a stronger version of their own regular coloration, like someone had jacked the saturation and brightness up.Ankutchey wrote:Do you think the change could be due to increase in certain foods?
