Mixed Sea Shells from Joann

Post by Hezekiah » Wed May 16, 2018 11:47 am

Hello! I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with these shells from Joann:

I am considering buying them, and I am wondering if my purple pinchers would actually wear them, and how many usable shells are in each package.

The Turbo shells (big, round snail shells) look promising and are likely your best bet for PPs. The Babylonia shells (white with brown spots) are the wrong shape. I had a PP who came with a B shell, but switched to a T as soon as she found one.

Also check out the HCA Shell Guide, you may find it helpful.

Ok! Thanks! I was looking at the turbo shells, I just was not sure if they would be good quality; one review was five star and the other said that all the shells were broken into pieces.

Smaller PPs in shells under an inch will often wear Babylonia. It is a waste of money for larger PPs though.

Here is my 3cperience with bagged shells from both JoAnn's and Michaels stores. I've bought from both in-store and online. I've found between 3 to 10 useable turbo shells in each. I will say though ordering online gave me the more beautiful uncracked shells.

I also bought the $20 bags from Michael's and was even more pleased to find 3 jumbo shells and large turbo shells. It was a beautiful zebra murex!

the shells are not bad at all, ive bought the mixed bags and and found 2-4 usable shells. use a coupon and it's even cheaper. what i do with the left over is i just donate them to a senior center or school for craft supplies. :)
