Post by Tazz9040 » Thu Sep 06, 2018 7:21 pm

Hello...i have a ten gallon tank with about 5 inches of substrate I thought about maybe a week ago my hygrometer was broken so I sprayed my substrate really good I kept a close eye on the moisture because it usually builds up on the side of tank well after 24 hrs of observation it didn't to much heat loss coming out of top so I put on another tank lid made a world of difference now for the first time I just seen a lil mold forming at edge of food bowl and noticed the food getting wet as well how can I back off the humidity a lil it's a lol over 80% and control the mold if it reappears again

Mold isn't generally harmful to the crabs. The humidity needs to be over 80, you shouldn't try to lower it. How long do you leave the food in the tank? If it's fresh food, it will only last 24 hours or less in proper crab conditions. Dry food will last a bit longer, 48-72 hours before it starts to mold.

It wasn't the food that had the mold it was on the side of the bowl and it was starting to form on the sand
