I bought a couple of sparkle rolls in pink and purple to have on hand in case we need them. Last time Fran got sick, one of the techs at the other place wrapped her tail to keep it clean so they wouldn't have to shave or bathe her. It was so wonderful! Using that trick if we ever need to.

Vet visit with Fran went as expected. Kidneys are more enlarged and there is more signs of it having invaded her central nervous system (Unequal pupils.) Doc doesn't think it will be much longer now, and when she gets worse it will probably be sudden. For now she is happy and content though. Gained an entire pound! She's eating two to three cans of Friskies and over a cup of dry food per day still.

No idea what might be causing Runtskies problems besides pain from the luxating patellas. (Her knee cap slips out of place every time she moves her leg or puts weight on it. Her and her brother were born with it, usually it's caused by an injury and even that is exceedingly rare in cats. We consulted an orthopedic surgeon last summer but they didn't think surgery would help any.) Her bloodwork hopefully shows just dehydration. They loaded her with fluids and some antinausea meds and sent her home with gapapentin for the pain. Fingers crossed it works. I have more fluids here if she needs it.

No babies yet.

No kittens for Noelle, either doc joking about it being kitten shaped poops was right, or she reabsorbed them. Our vet isn't worried because she's gaining weight and is looking great. Trying to decide what our next step is - take her somewhere else for xrays, just have her spayed, or wait it out for a while longer.

Winston got his buttons out and the ear looks great! I only have his photo from at the vets, he won't sit still for me to a get a new one. Image

Fran is still doing great, the tumors are much bigger but she seems happy and nothing else has changed. She may just make her 10th birthday on the 16th.

Mao turned 2 years last week. :)

Bug turns 4 months next week! Gah, summer went by too fast.

Merlin is holding his tail straight from his body, so we should be good. Doc was only worried about future injury or mutilation and it isn't bothering him.

Runtskies is back to eating, and screaming for dinner. So that is a relief. Although now she won't leave her cage either. Image

Ine the frog is still going downhill. Just muscle wasting and bloating, she is still eating. I sent out to a private lab for chytrid fungus and ranavirus testing as those were my two biggest fears (contagious) but she is negative for both. Still thinking kidney damage or cancer. Just keeping her comfortable for now, my vet can humanely euth when it's time.

Photos in order: Winston, Mao & Bug x2, Bug x2, Feanny, Mao & Bug, Gracie, Bug x2, Mao & Bug, Franny

Yeah, Mao & Bug are becoming good friends. Mao is stuck mentally at around 6 months, so she likes having a similarly clueless friend to play with. (The others are all afraid of her because she is so different.) I just hope Bug doesn't outgrow her!! Bug seems really smart and sweet, so I think she'll eventually catch on and will hopefully still tolerate Mao. ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

We did put Ine the frog down last night. She got to the point where she didn't want to move, even though she was eating. It wasn't until she was sedated and stretched out that I realized just how much muscle mass she had lost, her legs were so skinny but her body was so large. The vet is sure it was cancer, causing malabsorption and edema. Doc felt so bad about using a needle on her, that she gave the anethestic orally and we waited for it to take effect. It was painless and quick and I feel okay about everything. We buried her (deeply) at the back of our property since this is where she came from.

Noelle surprised us on Tuesday with two babies! They are HUGE and gaining weight rapidly. One is breathing funny though so we're a little guarded on his future. Doc is aware and we are monitoring. Fingers crossed both are okay!

Instagram editing and a blur tool, works better for cats than people! Image And I do everything on my cell phone which is so nice.
