My crab is pooping in his water dish!

My crab is pooping in his fresh water dish! Is that normal? :(
I have 4 purple pinchers. Crush, Bubbles, Sheldon, Sandy, and little Angelo. And I love Jesus! He is the way, the truth and the life, and he knew what he was doing when he made hermit crabs!☺

They poop everywhere.
raising son's dog, Dante. Husky/hound.
Raising daughter's hermit crabs, Shelder, Paras and Derek. Added 2 more of my own (of course) Pete and Stryper. Former mommy to 2 guinea pigs and beloved cat, Nissi

Yep, absolutely everywhere! Water dish, food dish, calcium dish, inside the wheel, in empty shells, even on each other! The poop will raise the amonia levels in the water so it should be changed if you see any.

One day my poor Diablo was running in the wheel and was wearing a brown frown! I had to laugh before I cleaned him up.

mine decides to hold it for a day or two, then let like five loose on the wall! i even saw him eating some, which i heard is normal. FYI, it stinks really bad if not cleaned as soon as it... ummm... appears.

I just noticed quite a bit in the hamster wheel. Not often for it to be crabless. Lol

I haven't cleaned out any poop in the 8+ years I have had my crabs. I just mix it up into the substrate every now and then.
Well, unless it's in the water bowl, LOL, then I remove it.

I'm so relieved to know it's ok not to scoop their poop! I make sure to get it out of the water dish, although the last 2 times it caused an "argument" when I nearly traumatized my big guy with my efforts to provide clean salt water. I've found areas where they seem to like to pile it up but it always disintegrates when I try to remove it. In 4 yrs, I've probably removed like 1% of their total waste. I use a probiotic spray to help break it down and keep the funky smell out and have never had an issue with it.
