Second floor?
I was wondering if I should put in a second-floor my little crabies love climbing on things but im not completely sure on how to. Does anyone have any ideas? I was also thinking about getting climbing net for them to get up if I did make a second floor.

You can use baskets, soap dishes, nets, branches from safe wood, wood from the reptile store...the possibilities are endless

I made 2 platforms out of popsicle sticks and bamboo, put them on opposite sides of the tank. Then I made a bridge out of popsicle sticks and hemp twine and attached it to both platforms. Finally, I have a piece of cholla wood angled up to one platform, and craft netting leading up to the other one. I don't usually see him on it during the day, but in the mornings I get up and see sand trails and the decorative glass beads are scattered everywhere xD

Maui - are the bamboo poles all the way down to bottom? Floating? Trying to come up with a second floor myself and wonder if poles should be far down but think theyll disturb diggers??
Re: Second floor?
They're only buried about an inch for stability, and Maui is my only crab, so its easy to monitor when he is under! XD

Looks like burlap to me. I use burlap constantly in my tank. Really cute 2nd level btw! I always reccomend putting in an upstairs, gives ur crabs more usable room to explore/travel/hide. My crabs are always hanging out on the 2nd floor.KrankyKrab wrote:Love it! Im so inspired! I cant figure out what the mesh is ... burlap?

Yep, burlap from a craft store.
Thank you! I actually worked really hard on it, and Maui seems to enjoy it!

Did u zip tie the burlap over craft mesh? That's always been my go-to technique. I actually just constructed a new tat by ziptyung burlap over egg crate panels.MauiMama wrote:Yep, burlap from a craft store.

I actually have a little wooden golf tee poked through the burlap mesh and into the moss on the side of the tank. It's really secure already that way, but I also have the dish sitting on top of the mesh for extra support. The bottom is also "teed" into the substrate, with some glass beads piled on it for looks and extra security.
