Our Latest Adoptions & Backstory
Xeno and I finally realized we can't even joke about rescuing or adopting crabs anymore. Ok on with the back story to this. We find it rather amusing.
Rewind to last summer or maybe the summer before.. We we're at a pet store and struck up a conversation with a lady and her husband about crabs. Xeno and the lady exchanged numbers at the store. The conversations ended after a week or two.
Fast forward to August this year Xeno gets a random text from this lady after a year or two. We we're helping her tweak hey set up through texts, phone calls and pictures. This went on for several weeks.
Jump ahead to mid October. We we're driving to Pittsburgh for a concert. Xeno randomly found a bag of crab food in the car. No idea how long it was there maybe from Crab Con in July. I jokingly said "Well....If we happen to get any crabs this weekend they won't be hungry!" We both chuckled. As we drove past the one exit where this other lady lives I asked Xeno if she heard from this lady. Not for like two weeks.
We are at the concert and guess who texts Xeno randomly. Yep that crab lady. This time, you guessed it, she wants us to adopt her two crabs. So the next morning we met up with them and got two more crabs for our colony along with some supplies, dual reptile light, cork hide, some food, climbing wood and a few other things.
These guys are actually in good shape and are in good shells. One recently molted and they aren't shy.

I know! We are getting to the point asking ourselves, Do we really need the TV, another tank can fit there! We scored two 75's a few weeks ago. We are looking at retiring the 30 gallon and moving some in the 55 over to that.
I saw somewhere where somebody took three of the same size tanks and made one giant one. Basically the put two side by side and used the third as a topper to connect them. It looked really cool.

Yes! I’ve seen three 55s connected with two 29 as the toppers. I thought about doing that with my two and one of my 29s until I got this 125. I’m sure you two can come up with something really cool!

Re: Our Latest Adoptions & Backstory
Thanks, they are definitely buddies. They are almost always together and everyone is getting along.
We do the cafeteria system for our tanks. Clean all the dishes and dry them at once. Then we lay all the dishes out, protein, plants/fruits, calcium, poops. Then add the same foods to each. It goes pretty quick that way. We do the same with the waters. The cycled and filtered pools in the 75 are nice those get changed completely every month with partial changes about every two weeks.

Thanks The pictures in the first post were taken with a Pixel 2. The second pics were taken with a Pixel 3. They take amazing photos!
So.....two days after posting this we received a message about adopting 4 more crabs! They are even in the same town too! Unfortunately we can't take them. We did let the people know of the adoption options here and other places.
