To be fair, most of those chemicals are vitamin and mineral supplements. It’s up to you whether you feel the need to include them or not.

True, true. I guess I'm just bias-- I prefer to buy things from smaller companies, and give my crabs fresh food. :) My crabbies are happy, and I'm sure there's people that have happy crabs that eat them, so I'm not trying to say don't use them. It's just in my experience my crabs haven't liked them, so I give them regular peanut butter :D

And to be honest, I’m not a fan of commercial foods, either. Whole foods are much better for them than processed.

I feel bad leaving the same food in the dish for weeks. I only have two crabs and they are both under the substrate somewhere.

Water dishes look low too. But one dish is near where one of the crabs went under and I’ll probably just top it up.

How long does molting take for a crab of Happy size and a crab of bashful’s size?

How soon do they need new shells? I was going to order them in May. Hoping I’ll be back at work then. Can go back anytime but parents wouldn’t let me back in house if I go back. Maybe I should split my hermit crab patch order up and get the shells and things that aren’t food now then get the food ordered in May.

I was going to order:
-sample variety pack with both add-on
-shells (4 for each crab)
-honey coral calcium
-calipers
-feeder treat set

The moapi wood/ cork thing look good too. No idea were I’d put them though

You wouldn't leave the same food in the dish for weeks. If they are all molting just feed dry foods every 3 days or so. When molters come up they don't always need a new shell. You never know when a crab will want to change shells. So if you can order some, if you don't have any, then you should do that.

Definitely, get them some new shells when possible. My crab really goes nuts when I introduce new shells. It's probably entertaining for them if we keep switching out the available shells, because I think they get accustomed to the same-old-same-old and really get a charge when something new appears.

I’ve emailed hermit crab patch and asked them about how urgently they need them after molting etc. I’ve got plenty of things to feed them so I don’t need food just yet.

Also, I did research on the stuffed toy crab and I discovered that there’s a 12 inch one available. The one I bought initially was 7 inch. When I realized there was only two left in stock so I ordered it. Kind of wishing they would just put all my order stuff in one box and ship that. Couple weeks ago I was literally getting a package everyday from amazon. My mom was like: Stop buying stuff for your crabs!!!!

Wonder how much longer coronavirus is going to be around for. Every day it’s seems to be worse and worse were I live. I feel so bad for all my coworkers that have to go to work. Wish my company would just close up but they won’t cause they are getting tons of orders in. Even without the virus they over-work the same people.

Haha, I can relate with the package thing, with my family yelling at me to stop ordering so many things for them! And shoot-- the crab plush is probably sold out already :( I need one of those! I'm hoping that it is over by July, but I'm kind of doubting it. Hopefully, though, at the latest it's over by Halloween. My schooling is going to be a nightmare if I have to keep learning from home, and summer's going to be horrible if I can't go on vacation!

I’m still waiting on 3 things I ordered on amazon. 2 books and that crab.

Probably going to put my first order in to hermit crab patch on Friday. Shells, calipers and small piece of wood. Then I’ll order 3 more plants off Big Al’s. Cause they are all add on items for amazon. I’m trying to cover the back of the tank with vines so it looks better and the heaters aren’t that visible.

Also want to order another tack set and found a few stories of this kids novel series I use to collect. Some I haven’t even read yet so might get those and an computer game that I use to have but I think my parents threw it away.

I know I need to boil my extra shells in de-chlorinated water for 15 minutes and let them cool before putting them back in. I bought Tetra Aqua Safe to condition water in my frog tank and bought two bottles of it. I haven't been keeping frogs since November. So, I'd like to use it up. I literally, don't trust it for anything else because it does nothing for ammonia so I can't use it to condition water my betta Blue lives in or Happy and Bashful's water dishes. Does the type of pot you use to boil shells in matter? . My Crab Bashful has been down for 30 days and Happy has been down for 17 days.

Do you put the water and de-chlorinating thing in the pot let it come to a boil then put shells in or are the shells in the pot to begin with?

I'm not sure if the pot does matter. What I do is place water in a measuring cup, then once it's in the microwave and has boiled I just put it in a plastic container, then add the shells. Afterward I just take them out and dry them with paper towels. Not sure if this is the ideal thing but it seems to work for me? Your crabs, I would guess, are molting. :D

Yup

Trying to figure out when to get more shells for them from hermit crab patch. Pretty much all the shells I’ve currently got could be worn by bashful and only like 2 or 3 Happy might like.
