Is this calcium powder safe

Post by Hermielover121 » Wed Apr 29, 2020 5:57 pm

I saw some calcium powder online from joshes frogs website. I was wondering if it was good and safe for my hermit crabs. It says it only contains Calcium carbonate, honey powder. Are these things safe and non-processed with no chemicals. I really need some calcium powder soon. Any other recommended brands online

Calcium carbonate and powdered honey are both safe. We just purchased lobster and crab exo, and crushed fish bone powder off Amazon. They were both like 5 pounds each! They are actually listed under gardening for adding to soil. If you don't want to purchase bulk you can order calciums from hermit crab food shops.

Bird cuttlebone is fine. It’s the same as any other cuttlebone.

All real cuttlebones come from cuttlefish. So yes, those would work.

The bone actually does come from the cuttlefish, it looks like it's part fish, squid, and octopus. Just be sure the cuttlebone you get is actual cuttlebone. Some companies sell a processed form that is formed to a similar shape with added items.

Def cute, but weird! They are in the octopus/squid family.
