Discolored spot with pictures

Post by bubblegumsweat » Wed May 06, 2020 3:52 am

I was misting my tank and I moved my crab Taika Waititi so he wouldn't be directly sprayed but I noticed a grayer spot on him. I haven't tried cleaning it or anything because I'm not sure if you should do that and I don't hold them or touch them.
Here's a picture. I know the picture is really big, I don't know how to resize it.

Is this a cause for concern or should I just leave it be and hope it goes away.

It doesn’t look like anything serious, so it’s probably just that—a discoloration. I wouldn’t be worried unless it starts to spread.

I'm with Joe on this one. It appears your crab recently molted by the sharp pointy tips of it's legs. That's one of the sure tell signs of a recent molt. The discoloration may just be some residue left over from the molt. As Joe stated keep an eye on it and see if it spreads.

Keep us posted if it goes away or become darker or grows. That way we can evaluate if need be.

Yeah, keep an eye on it, but that'd a common spot for molting weirdness to pop up. Should be fine after his next molt.
