calcium supplement meant for humans?
So my mom needed a calcium supplement and she bought the wrong one, now we have an extra bottle of calcium supplements that nobody plans on taking. it's called Caltrate, i'll put a picture below. It's a compressed powder tablet, and I was wondering if I could grind it up and add it to some of the crabs' powdered dry foods. Probably an unsafe idea...? I also put pictures with more information/ingredients.

I personally would not use them because I am not familiar with all of the added ingredients.
Truly blessed to have incredible creatures, wonderful friends and my amazing family in my life!! I'm very thankful & grateful for all of them! www.thehealthyhermit.com

I'd say no. Too many unknown ingredients, plus added coloring. I know I wouldn't give that to any of my crabs.
6 babies, 4 Es and 15 PPs.

The polyethylene glycol, talc, titanium dioxide, and coloring agents are best avoided.

got butterflies, joe hermits, xenocrab, thanks! however, it did get me thinking about calcium supplements in general as my crabs could probably use some more supplements (i have a hard time getting a hold of calcium-rich foods). i've heard of adding calcium powder to dried foods, one that's crab-safe and all-natural, no added ingredients. does anyone know where I could find something like that, and what brand/type to buy?

Unrelated to crabs, how is that the 'wrong' one for your mom? That's a good supplement.

I don't think it was the wrong one so much as not the one her doctor recommended. My dad agrees with you, though, thinks that the doctor is just being finnicky. I'm sure someone will take it haha

You can get calcium powder from the reptile aisle in most pet stores.avocadocrabbies wrote:got butterflies, joe hermits, xenocrab, thanks! however, it did get me thinking about calcium supplements in general as my crabs could probably use some more supplements (i have a hard time getting a hold of calcium-rich foods). i've heard of adding calcium powder to dried foods, one that's crab-safe and all-natural, no added ingredients. does anyone know where I could find something like that, and what brand/type to buy?
